Dimitris Anassis specialises in shipping and international trade disputes, in the context of both arbitration and court proceedings under English law and also advises on cross-border and trade finance disputes.
Dimitris has extensive experience in charterparty, cargo and bill of lading, shipbuilding, marine insurance, ship sale and purchase and international trade disputes, including contractual breaches and tort claims. His practice also covers maritime casualties and frequently advises on cases involving general average, unseaworthiness, abandonment of vessels and transhipment considerations.
Dimitris is also frequently involved in drafting contracts, settlement negotiations, and organising early-stage mediations.
In addition, Dimitris is a trusted advisor on sanctions and regulatory compliance matters, regularly advising clients on matters relating to UN, US, EU, and UK sanctions compliance.
Dimitris has also developed a strong interest in global decarbonisation efforts and is frequently involved in drafting contractual clauses related to a vessel’s CII (Carbon Intensity Indicator), the EU Emissions Trading Scheme and FuelEU Maritime as well as advising clients on compliance with these regimes.
