Francisco Colaço is a Partner at Miranda & Associados with more than 30 years of experience, focusing on civil and commercial litigation and arbitration. He is widely recognised for his extensive courtroom experience and long-standing involvement in domestic and international dispute‑resolution forums.

Before joining Miranda, Francisco spent over two decades at a prominent Portuguese law firm. He also gained early in‑house experience as a lawyer at an industrial company, providing him with valuable exposure to corporate disputes and commercial risk management.

Francisco has played an active role in shaping litigation and arbitration practice in Portugal. He has served on multiple arbitration panels, including those of the Arbitration Centre of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Industrial Chamber of Porto. He is also a founding member of the “Círculo de Advogados de Litígios” and has served on its supervisory board.

His contributions extend to public‑sector legal reform: he was part of the Ministry of Justice’s working group tasked with reviewing and commenting on the draft of the New Civil Procedure Code, reinforcing his status as a respected voice in civil dispute‑resolution policy and procedural law.

Over the years, he has become a trusted adviser in high‑stakes disputes, known for his rigorous legal analysis, strategic handling of complex litigation, and solid experience in arbitration proceedings.
