Diogo Xavier da Cunha is the Senior Partner of Miranda & Associados, bringing more than 25 years of experience advising clients in the Energy and Natural Resources sector. His work spans oil and gas, power, mining, corporate and commercial matters, mergers and acquisitions, as well as banking and finance. Over his career, he has become one of the most respected legal advisers operating across Lusophone Africa, particularly in Mozambique.

He joined Miranda in 1999 and played a central role in the firm’s expansion and international consolidation. After serving as Managing Partner for a decade, he became Senior Partner, guiding the firm’s strategic direction and overseeing major cross‑border mandates. Prior to joining Miranda, he practiced in London as a solicitor, gaining valuable international exposure that continues to inform his work. He is admitted to both the Portuguese Bar Association and the Law Society of England and Wales.

He is frequently recognized in leading international legal rankings for his work in General Business Law and Energy & Natural Resources. Diogo is a regular speaker at industry conferences, addressing topics such as local content requirements, investment frameworks, petroleum sector developments, and the evolving regulatory landscape in Mozambique.
