Partner, Head of Banking & Finance Group

Dr. Szabolcs Mestyán LL.M. is a founding partner and head of the Banking & Finance, Capital Markets, and Aviation practice groups at Lakatos, Köves and Partners.

He has over 15 years of experience advising on a wide range of banking and finance matters, including cross-border financing, banking regulation, restructuring, securitization, and capital markets transactions such as bond issuances and IPOs. Szabolcs has been instrumental in major NPL transactions in Hungary and the C&SEE region and helped develop the EBRD’s guidelines for managing NPLs.

He holds a law degree from Eötvös Loránd University (2005), an LL.M. from the University of London (2015), and a Diploma in Aviation Leasing & Finance from the Irish Law Society (2019).

Recognized as a leading expert by independent legal directories, Szabolcs also leads the firm’s aviation leasing and financing practice in the region.
