As a lawyer with the firm’s Dispute Resolution & Risk Management and Competition & Regulatory teams, Kätlin Sehver brings over a decade of diverse legal experience to the table.

𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗻. Kätlin leads our local Energy & Infrastructure sector group, with a focus on energy regulatory matters, project development and dispute resolution. Her sector expertise is strengthened by in-house experience with the Estonian transmission system operator, Elering, and the renewable energy developer Sunly, active in the Baltics and Poland. This combination of perspectives allows her to provide clients with well-rounded and pragmatic advice.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. As a young lawyer, Kätlin is constantly improving her knowledge and expertise in different practice areas, and she is always willing to take up new and exciting challenges. In addition to property law, Kätlin has previously worked with cases involving, for example, insolvency and family law, environmental and corporate matters, as well as EU- and tort law related issues. She has taken part in several construction and planning related trainings. Currently she is focusing more on real estate and construction related disputes and litigation cases.

𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲. Before joining Sorainen, Kätlin worked for three years as an in-house lawyer at one of Estonia’s leading security service providers. This not only showed her how a nationwide business operates and what kind of legal issues it encounters daily but also provided valuable experience of working with different types of services and contracts, disputes, employment matters and public procurement issues. In 2016, Kätlin contributed to the development of the new Estonian Security Act by participating in the Estonian Security Association’s work group.

𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. Kätlin graduated from the University of Tartu cum laude in spring 2017 with a masters’ degree in law. Her master’s thesis analysed the limitations to privacy rights in EU law by reference to electronic communications data protection. Kätlin' thesis was awarded second prize in the Ministry of Justice private and public law and legislation research competition in 2017. Together with her supervisor, Carri Ginter, they published several articles in national newspapers covering the urgent need to amend Estonian legislation in order to protect the people’s constitutional right to privacy.
