Piret has been responsible for leading large fraud and management liability cases amounting to a total value of over EUR 40 million. These matters have involved claims against former management and employees and have led to several criminal investigations.

Before joining Sorainen, Piret worked in the public sector, where she drafted policy and legislation in the following fields: product safety (consumer products), EU product rules (toys, pyrotechnic products, and explosives), market surveillance, standardisation and handling dangerous substances. Piret also worked at the Permanent Representation of Estonia to the European Union (in Brussels) as a counsellor for economic affairs and participated in the EU policy-making process as a representative of Estonia. Understanding the political, institutional and regulatory framework has been a key to making clientsโ voice successfully heard in the policy-making process.

Piret Schasmin has advised public authorities in diverse areas of law, mainly drafting new legislative proposals and internal procedural rules and helping to interpret legislation. In addition, she has trained public authorities on market surveillance regulation.
