Elena Burova, LL.M, MCIArb is Senior Associate with Dispute Resolution practise of LGP Middle East, based in Dubai. Her main areas of practice are international commercial and investment arbitration. She further specializes in public international law and sanctions, advising clients in contentious and non-contentious matters. Her profile as a counsel (10+ years) includes investment and commercial arbitrations, cross-border litigations, inter-State proceedings and public international law matters. Represented both investors and sovereign States in investment arbitrations under the rules of UNCITRAL, SCC, ICSID, with seats in the Hague, Geneva, Stockholm and Paris, in pre-arbitral negotiations. Acted in commercial arbitrations under the rules of LCIA, ICC, SCC, VIAC, RAC at RIMA. Has institutional experience as a Legal Counsel at RAC at RIMA and with the SCC Arbitration Institute. Elena is included in the DIAC List of Arbitrators and acted as an arbitrator of DIAC and RAC at RIMA. Listed in the Next Generation of Russian Arbitrators Guide. Member of CIArb since 2018. Elena holds LL.M. in Investment Treaty Arbitration (Uppsala University 2016), she graduated with honours from MGIMO-University (Moscow) with a Bachelor’s (2013) and a Master’s degree (2015). Elena is admitted to practise in the DIFC Courts (Part I and Part II List of Registered Practitioners) since 2024 and is registered with the Moscow City Bar since 2021.
Regularly publishes and speaks on current arbitration topics. In 2024, co-authored a book “International Investment Law” - the first comprehensive book on the topic in Russian, published by the Astana International Financial Centre.
