Career

Attorney Alexander Egger heads the practice group for EU, Regulatory, Public Procurement & State Aids. He knows the judiciary from all sides: After several years in the Foreign Ministry and six years as Référendaire at the Court of Justice of the EU in Luxembourg, being admitted to the bar, he is now representing clients vis-à-vis the Courts of the EU, the European Commission and the Council of the EU. At the prestigious College of Europe (Bruges), Egger specialized in European law, in particular public procurement and competition law. Egger is co-editor of the BRZ (State Aids Review) and has published numerous contributions and articles in German, English, French and Czech. In addition to his work as a lawyer, Egger, holding a Ph.D. (Habilitation), has been active as a university lecturer at the Vienna University of Economics and Business since 1997 and now at the University of Vienna. He is Fellow of the European Law Institute (ELI), a member of the Societas Iuris Publici Europaei (SIPE) and served as TWINNING and TAIEX expert for the EU. He acts as consultant for several DGs of the European Commission (i.a. DG COMP) within the framework of different consortia.
