Career
Arthur enjoys solving problems that sit at the intersection of science, technology and law.
Innovation does not stand still. The technologies shaping modern businesses are becoming increasingly sophisticated, often spanning multiple scientific disciplines and raising intellectual property issues that did not exist a decade ago. Arthur helps clients navigate those challenges, protecting their ideas while supporting their commercial ambitions.
Arthur is a Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney whose practice is built upon a strong scientific foundation. He completed a doctorate in Physical and Theoretical Chemistry at the University of Oxford, conducting research across advanced scientific fields before moving into intellectual property law. Today, he uses that same analytical approach to help businesses secure and enforce valuable intellectual property rights.
His expertise spans a wide range of technologies including chemistry, advanced materials, power generation systems, haptic technologies and computer-implemented inventions. Clients rely on Arthur for advice not only on patent protection but also trade marks, intellectual property strategy and intellectual property disputes. He is particularly skilled at translating highly technical concepts into practical legal solutions that align with commercial objectives.
Arthur is committed to supporting the wider profession and the next generation of patent attorneys. He has lectured on intellectual property courses, served as an examiner for the UK patent attorney qualification examinations and was elected as a substitute member of the UK's council delegation to the European Patent Institute in 2026.
Whether advising an early-stage technology business seeking investment or supporting an established organisation with a global patent strategy, Arthur focuses on helping clients secure meaningful commercial advantage from their intellectual property.
