Casper regularly assists financial companies and their (former) directors and investors in complex disputes with financial regulators such as the AFM and DNB, including compliance with the Wft, enforcement measures and governance issues.

He advises insurers, payment institutions (PSD2/PSD3), credit providers, fintechs and other financial companies on issues relating to market access and licensing or registration requirements, the passporting of licences within the EU, the establishment of controlled and ethical business operations, and compliance with consumer regulations, anti-money laundering legislation (Wwft) and international sanctions.

He also represents financial institutions in civil proceedings, for example in disputes concerning compliance with duties of care or failed collaborations between (financial) companies. The disputes are often cross-border in nature, which means that rules of private international law (PIL) play a role.

Before joining BLD Ekelmans, Casper was a solicitor at Bureau Brandeis and Eversheds Sutherland, and worked as legal counsel at American Express. He studied law at Leiden University and the Universitat de Barcelona. He also regularly publishes in professional literature. Casper is fluent in Dutch and English and has a basic knowledge of German, French, Spanish and Italian.
