Career
Mr. Durling advised clients in the oil and port industries on tax and regulatory matters, especially in aspects related to the operation of companies within the oil free trade zone regime. He represented major oil and energy companies before the Ministry of Commerce and Industries, the Secretary of Energy, the Maritime Authority, and tax authorities.
A versatile lawyer with skills across a wide range of corporate and commercial law areas, Mr. Durling also counseled local and international clients in the fields of ship finance; mining; banking and finance; capital markets; corporate law; doing business and multinationals in Panama; international business transactions; and aviation.
Mr. Durling was recognized as a leading lawyer in the areas of banking and mining by Who’s Who Legal, and as a leading shipping lawyer by Chambers Global and Chambers Latin America.
Mr. Durling worked in New York from 1986 to 1990 with Haight, Gardner, Poor & Havens (today, Holland & Knight LLP) in the area of asset-based financing.
