Donald Patrick Canavaggio joined the firm in 2018 and is an International Senior Associate.

Career

As a member of the M&A, and Banking and Capital Markets practice groups, Mr. Canavaggio has advised on various cross-border transactions including United Airlines’ loan to Avianca’s majority shareholder in connection with United’s joint venture with Avianca and Copa; and on behalf of the selling shareholders in the sale by existing shareholders of an 80 per cent stake in Cable Onda S.A. to Millicom LIH, S.A.

Mr Donald Patrick Canavaggio has proven experience in advising both financial institutions and Latin American companies in jurisdictions such as Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Mexico and Peru. He has advised clients in the Airline, Consumer Goods, Electricity Generation and Transmission, Financial Services, Mining, Infrastructure, and Petroleum industries. He has also worked closely in the representation of buyers and sellers as both lead and local counsel in M&A transactions in highly regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals, airlines, electricity generation, ports and shipping services and consumer goods conglomerates.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Canavaggio worked as an associate for Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP in New York (2013-2018), with a focus on private and public capital markets and securities transactions involving both debt and equity offerings. His experience includes both high-yield and project bond transactions.

He is admitted to practice in New York.
