Shane has over 25 years’ experience working in criminal law. He qualified in 2004 and achieved duty solicitor status soon after. He was a director at Maidment’s from 2006 until joining Forbes as a Partner within the specialist Crime division in 2019.
Shane has extensive experience in the detailed preparation of complex and difficult cases involving serious crime. He specialises in serious, grave and complex matters such as terrorism, murder, cyber-crime, international and national drug conspiracies and serious RTAs. In recent years, Shane has been involved a number of substantial drugs cases involving EncroChat arising from Operation Venetic.
During the last 12 months Shane has represented clients charged with conspiracy to import class A and class B drugs, serious sexual offences linked to a grooming gang, conspiracy to steal high value cars, conspiracy to commit burglary and causing death by dangerous driving.
Shane also has significant experience of defending vulnerable clients in murder cases who suffer from serious mental health issues. Shane also has notable experience representing youth defendants charged with murder.
