    Position

Carrie is one of our specialist criminal practitioners with over 20 years' experience in Criminal Law and procedure. Carrie is also a Partner within the firm and works in the departments Serious and Complex Case Division. Whilst Carrie represents clients who are detained at the police station and the Magistrates' Court, Carrie most frequently attends at the Crown Court.

Carrie is frequently instructed by clients charged with large-scale multi-handed drugs conspiracies as well as offences of importing drugs, supplying and possession firearms, murder and serious sexual offences.

Carrie's tactical awareness on managing and preparing cases sets her above those of other solicitors. She considers attacking the Prosecution's case from alternative angles rather than the usual defences adopted by others. Carrie will consider whether evidence can be undermined or ruled inadmissible before it is accepted. If admissible, she will then consider obtaining evidence or data to undermine that evidence or develop and demonstrate alternative angles of interpretation.

Carrie is also a duty solicitor and represents individuals who are arrested by the Police or who appear at Court without a solicitor and therefore has a large breadth of knowledge of all offences.

As one of our experienced advocates, Carrie also conducts inquests for local authorities when there is a potential finding of contributory negligence by the actions of Social Workers. She is also well versed with those cases which have the potential for a coroner making a Prevention of Future Death report which can attract both adverse publicity and scrutiny by the media.

Carrie has obtained a master’s degree in medical law with a focus on coronial law, mental health law and professional regulation and sanctions for members of the medical profession. This has allowed her to have both an enhanced knowledge of the law within those fields which is complimented by her advanced research skills setting her above other professionals within those fields

Carrie is one of the lead solicitors with the Royal College of Nurses and is frequently asked to represent clients suspected of having committed criminal offences within a medical setting.

Carrie provides sustained personal attention to her cases from start to finish with a robust approach and has a particular eye for omissions and gaps created by those prosecuting.
