Jonathan has been head of Department since 2015 and has overseen a period of impressive growth, Jonathan is National Head of Employment and Education for the firm, responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of the department, as well as maintaining key client relationships on behalf of the department and the wider firm.  Under Jonathan’s leadership, the team has grown from a small, three-solicitor offering based primarily in East Lancashire, to a department with 16 specialist employment lawyers.

In addition to his leadership and strategic ability, Jonathan has extensive experience of all areas of employment law, but carries particular experience in advising educational institutions and public sector clients; as well as being an expert on the Local Government Pension Scheme.  Jonathan is an accomplished Tribunal advocate; having appeared in a number of reported cases.  Adept at explaining complex legal issues in an accessible and easy to understand manner, Jonathan is a trusted partner of clients, routinely sought out for strategic as well as employment advice.

Jonathan is routinely sought out to speak at external events, and is the author of the leading textbook “A Practical Guide to Advising Schools on Employment Law”; a topic that Jonathan regularly speaks on for a CPD provider.  He is recognised nationally as an expert in advising Schools and Educational establishments on Employment law issues, and is one of few experts on the Local Government Pension Scheme.
