Commercial Property

Matthew leads a specialist sub-team within the Commercial Property department, advising on a broad range of commercial property matters for clients including landowners, developers, multinational businesses, SMEs, owner-occupiers and investors.

He heads the firm’s Commercial Property focussed Construction and Development offering, working closely with developers across Lancashire and beyond to provide end-to-end support on residential, commercial and mixed-use schemes, from site acquisition and structuring through to plot sales and disposal strategies. His experience includes acting for SME companies on multiple development projects, including residential and light industrial schemes in Preston, the Ribble Valley and North Yorkshire.

Matthew regularly advises development partners when dealing with Register providers, bringing a strong understanding of affordable housing delivery and stakeholder requirements. He has particular expertise in facilitating partnerships between developers and Housing Associations, including complex back-to-back land transactions.

His wider practice encompasses option and overage agreements, pre-planning arrangements, secured lending and landlord and tenant matters. He also works closely with the firm’s corporate team on property elements of share sales and asset acquisitions, providing joined-up advice on transactional matters.
