Maarten is a tax lawyer and partner at AKD, who specialises in indirect taxes (ranging from VAT and transfer taxes to smaller levies like energy tax). He has extensive experience advising both domestic and multinational companies and institutions. Indirect taxes affect the core of every business, as they pertain to the core business transactions—the actual buying and selling activities for which companies are established. During his in-house period with NN Group, Maarten gained hands-on experience in addressing these challenges quickly and efficiently. Additionally, Maarten has extensive experience solving tax controversy issues, both in-house and in his advisory role.
