Position

Dr. Greg Lourie is a Counsel in Schellenberg Wittmer's international arbitration group in Zurich. His main areas of practice are international commercial and investment arbitration. He further specializes in public international law, advising clients in contentious and non-contentious matters and providing investment structuring advice to companies.

Greg also sits as an arbitrator and has significant institutional experience from his tenure as the head of the ICA 3 case management team at the Secretariat of the ICC International Court of Arbitration.

Experience

  • Acted as counsel in commercial and investment arbitrations under the rules of the leading arbitral institutions, including ICC, ICSID, PCA, DIS, VIAC and WIPO, as well as in UNCITRAL ad hoc arbitrations.
  • Advised governments and state-owned entities, in particular sovereign wealth funds, on questions of public international law, including sovereign immunity, diplomatic and consular privileges and immunities, human rights and maritime delimitation.
  • Led the ICA3 case management team of the Secretariat of the ICC Court of International Arbitration and supervised in this capacity more than 400 arbitrations primarily in connection with the Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Benelux and Northern Europe.
  • Has extensive expertise in arbitrations involving sanctioned entities.
