Partner in Reddy Charlton’s litigation department, dealing with all aspects of commercial and civil litigation

Particular expertise in the resolution of property related disputes and related fields including construction law and professional negligence. Peter has also acted in a number of property arbitrations relating to compulsory acquisitions of commercial and residential property, an area which has become a core practice area of the firm

Work Highlights

Commercial Court proceedings taken by the Irish Official Assignee in Bankruptcy appointed on foot of a petition brought by the victims of the Omagh bombing (Larkin v Murphy and others; 2020/4922P);

Appearing on behalf of Basketball Ireland before the South East Commission (formerly the Hickson Commission of Inquiry) (September 2023 – ongoing);

Appearing in November 2023 on behalf of the Developer/Notice Party to an application seeking judicial review of a Grant of Planning Permission authorising the construction of 131 apartments under the Strategic Housing Development (SHD) process (Stapleton v An Bord Pleanala and others; 2022/157JR);

Acting for the GAA in defending High Court proceedings relating to a commercial contract for IT services (Acorn Wave Ltd v Ó Riain; 2021/4517P);

Advising the Court Appointed Administrator of a probate estate on challenging the proper interpretation and application of a Life Insurance Policy (Keane v Irish Life Assurance PLC; 2020/7951P);

Acting for the White Hotel Group in Commercial Court proceedings between co-owners of a chain of Irish hotels and tour operators (White Hotel Group and Whites & Associated Hotels v White Tours Ireland (International Ltd) and others; 2021/4655P);

Advising a Dental practitioner in an appeal to the Tax Appeals Commission against income tax  assessed against associates of the business who were deemed to be employees (June 2023)
