Deirdre Barnicle graduated from University College Dublin (BBLS) in 2003 and qualified in 2007. She became a Consultant with McCann FitzGerald LLP in 2021 (then heading up our specialist Tax Compliance Unit which provides tax compliance services to our clients across all tax heads) and was made Partner in our Tax Group in 2024. Deirdre advises on complex tax matters and key transactions from an Irish tax perspective across all tax heads.

On the advisory side, Deirdre advises clients on income tax, corporation tax, VAT, stamp duty, professional services withholding tax and other withholding taxes. Deirdre enjoys particular expertise in the real estate finance and financial services tax arena, routinely negotiating the tax provisions of large-scale funding arrangements and advising on the full spectrum of tax structuring work in that sector. She has particular expertise in the AEOI (Automatic Exchange of Information) area which encompasses FATCA, CRS, DAC2 and DAC6, among others.
