Career

Tom specialises in appellate and cassation litigation across the civil spectrum. He heads Dirkzwager's cassation and appeal litigation practice. Tom is also deputy counsel at the 's-Hertogenbosch Court of Appeal. Tom is also fellow at the Enterprise & Law Research Centre (OO&R), editor at JBPr (Jurisprudentie Burgerlijk Procesrecht) and TCR (Tijdschrift voor Civiele Rechtspleging) and (co-)editor of the appeal title in the Sdu Commentary on Civil Procedure. Furthermore, Tom regularly teaches courses in the field of civil procedural law, in particular for AvdR (Academy for Legal Practice). Tom also deals with administrative advice, co-determination in healthcare and conflicts between healthcare providers / MSBs and medical specialists. Before switching to the legal profession, Tom worked in the (international) scientific world for several years, including as a lecturer and researcher. In 2011, Tom obtained a PhD in philosophy, and has several (political-)philosophical publications to his name.
