Position

Annelies heads BarentsKrans�� Commercial Contracts team. She specialises in national and international commercial contract law and liability law with a focus on drafting and reviewing supply and purchase agreements (including standard documentation), (cross-border) distribution, franchise and agency agreements and general terms and conditions.

She furthermore advises both national and international clients on issues relating to e-commerce (including the use of general terms and conditions in B2B or B2C legal relationships), consumer law and international private law.

Annelies is also a highly experienced litigation lawyer. She represents large Dutch and international companies in complex liability issues, post-M&A disputes and disputes on matters such as nonconformity and warranty claims, termination of long-term commercial contracts and the interpretation of contractual clauses. Her clients operate in sectors ranging from telecommunications, ICT, food and agriculture, automobiles and petrochemicals to construction and installation.

Commercial contract litigation is the forte of Annelies van der Ploeg. Philip Fruytier excels in Supreme Court litigation and often acts for insurers, real estate investors and developers, competition litigation claim funders and international organisations. The Hague-based team is co-led by Schonewille, van Maanen, Tjittes, van der Ploeg and Fruytier.

BarentsKrans‘ arbitration group handles proceedings before a number of different institutions including the ICC, UNCITRAL, SIAC and the Netherlands Arbitration Institute. The team is experienced in handling arbitration proceedings in relation to energy, telecoms and construction. Post-M&A arbitration also form a key part of the practice. Rieme-Jan Tjittes leads the team and is an arbitration specialist who often handles international arbitrations and is an expert in commercial contract law. Annelies van der Ploeg handles commercial contract-related arbitration proceedings.
