Romanian law firm Filip & Company has an ambitious target of reaching net zero by the end of 2024, setting out practical steps to achieve this goal through its ‘Purple loves Green’ initiative. This focuses on using clean energy, ensuring suppliers’ commitments are akin to the firm’s and supporting emissions-reducing initiatives.
The team regularly supports different clients in various sustainability-related financings. Founding partner Alexandru Bîrsan advises co-lead investor Planet First Partners on its €109m investment in Sunfire, the most significant equity raise of a green-hydrogen-focused private company to date. Alexandra Manciulea and Ioana Roman assisted a syndicate of banks with their €127m financing to Green Group, the largest integrated waste recycling group in Central Europe. Another key client is Magnet Developments, which sought the firm’s advice on the negotiations surrounding a €22m facilities agreement for the development of a green, award-winning housing project located outside of Bucharest.
The firm is also involved in legislative advice to major clients in the e-mobility sector and supports the development of multiple large-scale wind farms in Romania.
