The team at¬†Allen & Overy, A. Pedzich sp. k.¬†assists businesses, financial and public institutions with debt restructuring transactions, often from a cross-border angle. Counsel¬†Bartosz MerczyŇĄski¬†represents Samsung Electronics Polska as a creditor and member of the Creditors' Council of Action in remedial proceedings. Clifford Chance's team comprises the 'exceptional' MiŇāosz GoŇāńÖb, experienced litigator¬†Bartosz KruŇľewski¬†and¬†Andrzej Stosio, who specialises in capital markets and banking issues. Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP¬†draws on its global presence to advise investors, debtors and creditors on matters including multi-national restructuring, the management of distressed companies and insolvency issues. The team is led by a counsel with 'deep market understanding'¬†Magdalena Pyzik,¬†who, together with¬†PaweŇā Rymarz,¬†is advising PBG on the restructuring of PLN3bn pre-bankruptcy debt and the financial reorganisation of its capital group.¬†Artur Zawadowski¬†left the firm for¬†Lesnodorski, Slusarek & Partners¬†in October 2017.

WKB Wiercinski, Kwiecinski, Baehr's client roster comprises a number of major local and international clients, including international lenders, debtors and potential acquirers of distressed assets. In a key matter demonstrating the team's strength,¬†Jakub Jedrzejak¬†and department head¬†Andrzej WierciŇĄski¬†acted as local counsel to Toys "R" Us as part of multi-jurisdictional insolvency proceedings and the client's subsequent liquidation filings.

Zimmerman i Wsp√≥lnicy Sp.K¬†enters the ranking this year on the basis of its clear specialism in restructuring, insolvency and bankruptcy law. The group is led by managing partner and former insolvency judge¬†Piotr Zimmerman, who participated in the creation of the 2016 Restructuring Act.¬†Mateusz MedyŇĄski¬†and¬†Bartosz Sierakowski¬†are also key contacts, alongside senior associate¬†Agnieszka Stenzel.

Highlights for Chajec, Don-Siemion & Zyto Legal Advisors' Andrzej Chajec and Maciej Kotlicki included advising Capital Partners on a multi-stage equity restructuring of Ekoplast and its group companies. The team is often instructed in bankruptcy proceedings, representing creditors and debtors.

At CMS, counsel¬†Joanna MŇāot¬†is representing the receiver in the Polish bankruptcy proceedings of McGregor Retail.

Domanski Zakrzewski Palinka¬†combines insolvency and restructuring knowledge with expertise in tax law to provide clients with a full-service on a range of issues.¬†Marcin Krakowiak¬†and¬†Anna Glapa¬†advised¬†Polska Grupa G√≥rnicza on a major restructuring, including the transfer of selected mines to¬†Sp√≥Ňāka Restrukturyzacji KopalŇĄ and the acquisition of¬†Katowicki Holding Wńôglowy.¬†Bartosz Marcinkowski¬†and Marek ŇöwińÖtkowski¬†are also key names.

The team at FKA Furtek Komosa Aleksandrowicz predominantly represents banks and other financial institutions as creditors in insolvency proceedings and restructurings. Department head Leszek Rydzewski is representing KBC Bank as the senior secured lender in bankruptcy proceedings of an SPV established for a real estate project in Poland. He is also representing mBank in bankruptcy proceedings relating to its debtor, PHU Rent.

Gide Loyrette Nouel handles bankruptcy proceedings and restructuring operations for companies with domestic and cross-border operations. Practice head Piotr Sadownik is advising the Polish road administration authority on a risk assessment relating to the potential impacts of a request to open bankruptcy proceedings by Portuguese company MSF Engenharia.
