Adamas

Initially founded in Lyon, Adamas also has offices in Paris, Bordeaux and Marseille, although Lyon still retained most of the firm's resources. The firm, which also has two antennas in China, in Beijing and Shanghai, is a leading player in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and is also a very strong name at national level, offering a broad range of expertise. Bignon Lebray

Bignon Lebray is home to more than 100 lawyers, including some 30 partners, who organise themselves across 11 areas of expertise. The full-service law firm is retained by small and medium-sized entreprises as well as by major corporations, public sector entities and non-profits to advise on a wide range of matters. The majority of the workforce is based in Paris (some 35 lawyers), closely followed by the Lille office (some 30 lawyers), while the Lyon office consists of ten people. In addition, the firm has antennas in Aix-en-Provence and Shanghai.

Bird & Bird

UK law firm Bird & Bird stands out as one of the few international players with a significant office outside Paris. The firm's Lyon office is home to some 50 lawyers and professionals. It provides a full range of strong expertise, including proficiency in M&A and private equity, and a high level of intellectual property know-how. The well-known David Malcoiffe and Yves Bizollon are the heads of the Lyon office.

CMS

CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre Lyon office is one of the leading references in the region. It has strong resources with a workforce consisting of some 85 lawyers. The office boasts a broad range of expertise, including corporate, tax and public law. Small and medium-sized enterprises as well as major corporations are clients. François Coutard, Jean-Thomas Heintz, Laurent Romano and Pierre Devis co-head the office. Founded in Nantes, Cornet Vincent Ségurel is one of the best law firms in the regions. The firm also has a very significant presence in Paris and secondary offices in Rennes, Lille, Bordeaux and Lyon. The firm, which totals 160 lawyers, is very dynamic and able to provide a full range of expertise. It acts for small and medium-sized enterprises as well as for leading companies.

20-lawyer firm Delcade has its main office in Bordeaux and a secondary office in Paris. The full-service firm houses several partners who are also members of the UK or a US bar. The Bordeaux office is co-headed by Benoît Lafourcade, who is an expert in corporate law and international litigation, and tax partner Fabrice Delouis, who specialises in transfer pricing. The office grew its ranks in 2019 with the promotion of four new partners: tax experts Caroline Zimbris-Golleau and Edouard Fraignieau, intellectual property specialist Dauphine de Marion de Glatigny and corporate and M&A expert Alexandra Ménard. The arrival of Philippe Rignault in the public law team from Squadra Avocats and labour law specialist Julien Tayeg from Pwc Société d'Avocats further strengthened the Bordeaux offering. The Paris office now counts about ten lawyers, including GDPR expert Isabelle Gavanon and insolvency specialist Hervé Gardey who joined from FIDAL in 2019.

Founded in Lyon, Delsol Avocats has built itself a great reputation at national level. The firm fields a total of some 120 lawyers who are based in Lyon and Paris. The Paris office has grown significantly these past few years and now houses most of the workforce. The firm impresses with a large array of business law expertise, spanning corporate, tax, and employment law as well as litigation. It serves many small and medium-sized enterprises, investment funds, entrepreneurs and several large companies. In addition, the firm is one of the market’s stand-out advisors for non-profits and foundations, thanks to Xavier Delsol, founding partner and chairman of the firm.

Ernst & Young Société d'Avocats counts some 15 locations across the country. The firm fields a full range of expertise and is particularly strong in tax law.

FIDAL

FIDAL has the largest team and regional network in France. The firm, which offers full services, gathers about 1450 lawyers, jurists and consultants and totals 90 offices across the country. The firm has local implementations in every part of the country, although Paris concentrates the largest part of the staff with 355 lawyers. Data protection specialist Isabelle Gavanon and insolvency expert Hervé Gardey joined Delcade in 2019.

Fromont Briens

Based in Paris and Lyon, employment boutique Fromont Briens ranks among the best in its field at national level. The practice can draw on large resources with a workforce of some 300 lawyers and professionals.

Lamartine Conseil

Lamartine Conseil integrated the majority of Axten Avocats Associés' lawyers in November 2019. With that move, the firm, which ranks among the best in France for small and mid-cap private equity transactions, has significantly expanded its presence in Lyon and Aix-en-Provence. Those two offices combined now house some 30 lawyers who provide a large range of expertise, spanning private equity and M&A transactions, insolvency, tax and competition law as well as litigation know-how. The Lyon-based Stéphane Rodriguez, Lionel  Hanachowicz and Rémi Hanachowicz and Clyve Monfredo in Aix-en-Provence are among the key names. The firm also has a small office in Bordeaux and an office in Paris.

Pwc Société d'Avocats

A member of PricewaterhouseCoopers International, Pwc Société d'Avocats  has eight regional offices besides of its Paris’ main base, combining some 120 lawyers spread across its Bordeaux, Grenoble, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nantes, Strasbourg and Toulouse offices. The regional offices serve small and medium-sized companies, French subsidiaries of foreign companies, as well as entrepreneurs and regional private equity funds, providing legal and tax advice, including employment law. Some specific regional expertise is also available, including maritime law in Marseille and wine law in Bordeaux. Tax partner Emmanuelle Veras is the firm's key contact for all its regional offices. Employment law specialist Julien Tayeg left the Bordeaux office for Delcade in 2019.

Valoris Avocats was founded in Strasbourg where the firm now consists of 15 lawyers, but the firm also has small secondary offices in Lyon (3 lawyers) and Paris (2 lawyers). The firm offers full-service expertise, including a solid tax law practice. Its strong international and notably Franco-German approach is a key stand-out asset in the market Several major German industrial companies are clients, as well as many French and international companies, investment funds and private clients. The firm is co-headed by Florence Devret-Wolff, Xavier Duquenne, Luc Julien-Saint-Amand, Céline Puijalon-Radu and Guillaume Rubechi.
