Dan Hacohen’s team at Agmon & Co. Rosenberg Hacohen & Co. has client relationships that places it ‘at the leading edge of developments in Israel’. Acting for the sponsors of both the Tamar and Leviathan gas fields, Hacohen is currently involved in gas sale and export negotiations with companies in Jordan and Egypt.

Erdinast, Ben Nathan, Toledano & Co. Advocates hired an entire project finance team from Tadmor & Co. Yuval Levy & Co.. Uri Noy’s ‘broad and balanced approach’ in the field of renewable energy is complimented by Jonathan Finklestone’s ‘business acumen and industry experience’.

Goldfarb Seligman & Co.’s reputation in the power and energy sector is characterised by deep-seated experience negotiating PPPs, PFIs and BOTs. Amit Krispin’s team, which includes Sagit Chen, acts for about half of Israel’s private natural gas power plants, advising on licensing and permits, regulatory compliance, as well as financing.

The ‘highly professional and client-dedicated’ energy lawyers at Gornitzky & Co. have handled a number of power project financings and successful BOT tenders. Jack Smith’s team has also been active in gas exploration, having advised Edison International in its potential acquisition of offshore natural gas assets.

Adam Eytan and Mark Phillips jointly head Herzog Fox & Neeman’s ‘professional and business-oriented’ project finance department, which has developed a strong reputation on the lender side – particularly in independent power plant projects – but is also instructed by project companies. Levy, Meidan & Co has been increasingly involved in hydroelectric and solar-thermal power plants. Noa Meidan has been acting for contractors and banks in various renewable power plant financings, as well as handling tenders for the procurement of energy services and distribution of natural gas.

The energy department at Meitar Liquornik Geva Leshem Tal Law Offices specialises in downstream, midstream and upstream petroleum and gas matters and also provides regulatory and licensing advice to clients in the electricity sector. Renelle Joffe acts for SuperGas Natural in all purchase and transfer agreements.

Barnea & Co’s energy group has ‘challenged some of the more established firms’ by providing ‘personal, pragmatic and strategic service’. Simon Jaffa acted for Alstom Power in a winning bid for the EPC and operation-and-maintenance contracts for the Dalia/Tzafit power plant project. Gal Oren acts for Belectric Germany and its global affiliates.

Epstein Rosenblum Maoz (ERM)’s Amnon Epstein is ‘particularly experienced in international transactions’, and is advising a consortium of domestic and international companies on a BOT tender for the Red Sea-Dead Sea water conduit project, which includes a hydropower generation aspect. The department has several substantial clients in the renewable energy sector, including Elecnor and Solaer Group.

S. Horowitz & Co’s team is headed by Eran Bezalel, who routinely advises Israel Electric Corporation on tendering and procurement issues and litigation. General Electric is another important energy client, which Clifford Davis advised on the acquisition of energy assets from Alstom.

Shibolet & Co has been active in outbound international work regarding power plants, with Orit Marom-Albeck handling power plant developments and sale transactions. Revital Ben-Artzi serves as lead adviser to Telemenia regarding its power plants worldwide.

Working for clients in renewable and conventional energy, Tadmor & Co. Yuval Levy & Co.’s ‘very professional’ team has ‘excellent familiarity with regulatory offices and financial institutions’. Alon Ziv now heads the practice, having joined from Herzog Fox & Neeman, and acted for Megalim Solar Power in procuring financing for a 121MW solar power station.

Yehuda Raveh & Co.’s department co-head Ron Vered has reached financial close on eight mid-scale power stations and recently handled the sale of around 90 small-scale power stations for Enlight Renewable Energy. The team is also advising Gas Natural Fenosa on the operation and maintenance of two IPP projects.

Yigal Arnon & Co’s energy group has experience working for banks and investment firms in large project financings. Shiri Shaham advised Harel Group and Israel Infrastructure Fund on the $369m acquisition of a stake in the Tamar gas field.

Fischer Behar Chen Well Orion & Co is active in acquisition finance and obtaining loans for public and private energy companies. Practice head Gilad Winkler has acted on various investments and transactions for Helios Fund regarding biomass projects.

The ‘experienced and legally savvy’ energy group at GKH – Gross, Kleinhendler, Hodak, Halevy, Greenberg & Co is strong in downstream natural gas matters. Practice head Anat Klein has advised clients such as Hishtil, Prigat and Packer Plada on natural gas conversion grants.

M. Firon & Co Advocates and Notaries’ energy department has strengths in contentious and non-contentious work. Niv Sever won a $324m award for East Mediterranean Gas following an arbitration with two Egyptian national gas companies for the repudiation of a sale contract. Tamar Firon-Smorodinsky has been acting for Electra regarding two photovoltaic BOT projects.

Shenhav Konforti Rotem & Co. specialises in advising kibbutzim on the development of renewable and conventional energy projects. Omry Rotem is acting for Galilee Development Company on the establishment of a natural gas facility.
