Interview with: Marco Frigg, Partner
weber schaub & partner ltd.
Marco Frigg, partner at weber schaub & partner, explains why clients don’t need fireworks – just clear advice, good people and lawyers who are a little bit nerdy.
What do you see as the main points that differentiate weber schaub & partner from your competitors?
We’re a small team that focuses on what we know best: private client and tax law. Our fees are fair, our service is personal, and our mindset is entrepreneurial. We’re pragmatic, a bit nerdy about legal details – and we like to think that shows in the results.
Which practices do you see growing in the next 12 months? What are the drivers behind that?
Our private client practice keeps growing – partly because the world isn’t getting simpler, especially when families, assets and borders mix. Switzerland, with its stability and legal reliability, remains a preferred hub – and we just try to help people navigate that sensibly.
What’s the main change you’ve made in the firm that will benefit clients?
We’ve put a lot of thought into building a team that works well together – and with clients. There’s no secret sauce, just good people who care about the work and don’t take themselves too seriously. That seems to resonate. Besides that, we place a strong focus on continuous training, and everyone takes part – from junior to senior.
Is technology changing the way you interact with your clients, and the services you can provide them?
I would say it has, but not greatly. We are very mindful about keeping close, personal relationships with our clients and are a bit old-school in this regard. Most clients still like to sit down for a coffee and prefer a human face over a chatbot. But we do use tech to be more efficient – we’ve tested legal AI tools and enjoy anything that saves time without sacrificing thought.
Can you give us a practical example of how you have helped a client to add value to their business?
We helped a business-owning UHNW family untangle their governance jungle – dozens of documents, unclear rules, too many holding companies. Our solution: merge structures, simplify, and draft a new shareholders’ agreement that people not only read, but actually understood. It’s shorter, clearer, and – according to the client – finally something they feel confident using.
Are clients looking for stability and strategic direction from their law firms – where do you see the firm in three years’ time?
Yes, especially in uncertain times. We hope to still be the same approachable team, just with a bit more experience and a few more grey hairs. If things go well, people will still call us not because we’re everywhere, but because we’re there when it matters.
