André Tavares explains the firm’s focus on strategic litigation and insurance matters

What do you see as the main points that differentiate [law firm name] from your competitors?

We specialize in strategic litigation. Our partners are highly experienced with an exceptionally strong academic background. Our mission is to deliver personalized first-class services with the best outcomes for our clients. Every case is directly conducted by at least two partners, who maintain a hands-on approach from start to finish.

The firm also conducts standard to complex loss adjustment procedures, as well as routine litigation, with the direct involvement of its partners, on the most cost-effective basis.

Our partners have pursued graduate and postgraduate degrees, such as Master’s Degrees, LLM’s and Ph.D., at world-class universities, including Columbia University, Universidade de São Paulo, Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, Université Jean Moulin III and PUC-Rio. Which practices do you see growing in the next 12 months? What are the drivers behind that?

The firm is rapidly and consistently developing its dispute resolution practice, especially regarding strategic litigation. Our partners are highly qualified and experienced, having previously worked on several leading cases at the most renowned Brazilian law firms.

What’s the main change you’ve made in the firm that will benefit clients?

Our partners organized themselves to be available for national and international clients on the 24/7 basis.

Is technology changing the way you interact with your clients, and the services you can provide them?

The firm has the best up-to-date technological tools to deliver to our clients all information regarding their cases in the most efficient manner. We provide full and comprehensive reports about any ongoing case within 24 hours off the clients’ request.

Can you give us a practical example of how you have helped a client to add value to their business?

Although we are a litigation boutique, there were several occasions when we advised the client not to litigate, as a settlement would be the best option in terms of money, time and commercial exposure. We have a specialist team dedicated to advice and assistance aimed at the avoidance of litigation by pre-emptive measures or the negotiated settlement of existing or potential disputes, together with on-going monitoring of potential or existing claims against our clients.

Are clients looking for stability and strategic direction from their law firms – where do you see the firm in three years’ time?

The firm will always provide highly specialized insurance and reinsurance advice to our clients. However, we are also expanding our areas of strategic litigation to encompass a wide range of complex commercial disputes before major arbitral institutions and before the courts.
