Position

Alexandra advises clients on all aspects of work relating to investment funds, both regulated and unregulated.

Alexandra advises a number of large asset managers, including abrdn, Legal & General and Jupiter, and “host” authorised corporate directors on various matters relating to the structure and operation of regulated funds including: the establishment of umbrella and standalone OEICs and authorised unit trusts (UCITS, NURS and LTAFs); mergers/schemes of arrangements; fund terminations; fund range rationalisations; new sub-funds; rebrands; service provider changes and various other ad hoc changes and updates to their fund ranges.

Alexandra also assists clients with investment management agreements, depositary agreements, platform and distribution agreements, and advises clients in relation to on-going regulatory and compliance matters, including the application of the UCITS regime, AIFMD, MiFID II and ESG-related regulations.

She spent time on secondment at Coutts & Co in 2023 and Legal & General Investment Management Limited in 2016.

Macfarlanes LLP tackles issues tied to the gamut of open-ended funds structures, with particular expertise in novel LTAFs. On the regulatory front, the team advises on Consumer Duty and the Overseas Funds Regime among an array of others. Practice head Lora Froud is an LTAF expert, having assisted with the design of these structures, with her wider practice encompassing issues tied to fund restructuring and distribution. Alexandra Green advises fund managers and banks on the FCA’s Consumer Duty regulations, MiFID II issues and challenges arising out of Brexit, with Alexandra Cochrane overseeing the establishment of UCITS, NURS and other investment vehicles. Tiffany Cox, who made senior associate in September 2023, is frequently called upon by fund managers looking to launch ESG-focused funds and comply with sustainability disclosure requirements.
