Mateusz specialises in dispute resolution in the field of civil, commercial, administrative and criminal law, representing clients at both pre-trial and trial stages.

He defends major publishers, media companies and journalists against baseless lawsuits and indictments aimed at stifling debate and public criticism, including anti-SLAPP cases.

He represents clients in matters related to the protection of personal rights, money laundering offences, bribery and corruption, fraud, managerial offences, insider trading violations and market abuse.

In addition, he represents corporate executives in criminal proceedings at the bench of the plaintiffs, suspects or defendants.

He advises leading Polish and foreign companies mainly from the technology, financial, FMCG and manufacturing sectors.

The restructuring and insolvency team at Kochanski & Partners predominately supports creditors and investors, which mainly include financial institutions and private equity funds, as well as financially distressed entities. Its offering encompasses advice on out-of-court and in-court restructurings and bankruptcy proceedings, corporate and employment restructurings, and post-restructuring disputes, as well as insolvency proceedings. Corporate lawyer Rafał Rapala is notable for his expertise in restructuring projects of capital groups, and head of the litigation practice Mateusz Ostrowski is another notable name in the team.

Recently joining the TMT practice at Kochanski & Partners, Natalia Kotłowska-Wochna brings strength to IT and data protection projects. Alongside joining the practice, Kotlowska-Wochna joins the other department heads in leading the practice, namely, Piotr Kochański, who represents clients in complex litigation and assists them with technology transfers, Monika Maćkowska-Morytz , who specialises in personal data protection, while Mateusz Ostrowski takes on a variety of litigation proceedings involving fintech and cryptocurrency. More broadly the team advises on cloud computing and has been developing its fintech practice. Former co-head Jan Ziomek departed in October 2024.
