Career

Olivier Attias holds degrees from ESSEC Business School and Paris I – Panthéon-Sorbonne University, along with an LLM from New York University. A practicing attorney admitted to both the Paris and New York bars, Olivier joined August Debouzy in 2018. Prior to this, he spent a decade with Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP’s Paris office, where he was an integral part of the Litigation and International Arbitration team.

Olivier’s primary focus is on litigation, specializing in compliance, white-collar crime, and financial disputes. He also brings a wealth of expertise in navigating economic sanctions and export control regulations.

The team acts for leading investment funds, large and smaller companies as well as executives in matters spanning various industries. It regularly handles shareholders’ conflicts and has the ability to deal with complex cases where commercial, corporate and fraud issues are entwined . The practice is co-headed by Marie Danis  and Benjamin van Gaver  . Olivier Attias also contributes.

August Debouzy is retained to handle challenging and sensitive cases by leading companies, spanning various industries such as retail, defence, hospitality and energy, as well as by senior executives and individuals. The practice manages a solid caseload raising various criminal offences such as tax fraud, corruption or industrial pollution. The team is also regularly called upon to assist with the implementation of preventive measures and the conduct of internal investigations. The practice has also developed particular expertise regarding criminal human rights accusations linked in connection with conflicts and war zones.
