Rigorous and tenacious, appreciating complex cases, Jean-Baptiste uses his double qualification as an Attorney-at-law and as a European Patent Attorney to serve the interests of his clients, aiming at becoming the specialist of the case he is in charge of.
Jean-Baptiste Lecœur began his practice in 2001 in a large IP law firm in Paris. He joined CASALONGA in 2008 and became a partner in 2012.
Jean-Baptiste concentrates on patent litigation as well as opposition and appeal proceedings before the EPO. His excellent knowledge of EPO proceedings and case law, as well as his teaching activity, enrich his judicial practice. He regularly handles cases which are pending both in opposition before the EPO and before the French Courts, enabling him developing synergies.
He is also active on supplementary protection certificate (SPC).
Jean-Baptiste also supervises a team of European Patent Attorneys for patent prosecution worldwide, which help him keeping a global view on patent system.
Jean-Baptiste handles cases in different fields of chemistry such as pharmaceuticals, organic and inorganic chemistry, cosmetics, polymers, material science, chemical engineering.

Jean-Baptiste is in charge of the course on patentability at the CEIPI and of oral examination on French patent law. He was also involved for more than ten years in the preparation of the European Qualifying Examination (EQE) for European patent attorneys (legal paper).
Jean-Baptist also teaches drug law in the framework of the Master 2 Industrial Property and Health Innovations at the University of Paris VIII.
Jean-Baptiste is a member of the European Patent Institute (epi), the French Association of Industrial Property Attorneys (AAPI), the International Association for the Protection of Industrial Property (AIPPI) and the European Patent Litigators Association (EPLIT).
