Asbestos claims and mesothelioma claims
Position

Career
I have been bringing claims for work related injuries for over 30 years. I specialise in complex and high-value mesothelioma claims. I also represent clients with work accident and disease claims that are complex or display novel features such as overseas claims, psychiatric injury claims and cases that are difficult on causation or liability.
Recently I acted for a former School Nursery Nurse with mesothelioma who was exposed to asbestos in a damaged primary school Portakabin and recovered £650,000. I have acted for two insurance salesmen: one developed mesothelioma following exposure to asbestos when assessing claims following earthquake damage in Antigua; the other when meeting clients at their premises to renew policies. Both claims settled for over £500,000.
I have a developing international practice. I have recently been instructed to recover damages for mesothelioma for a woman who was exposed to asbestos when she visited her father at work in an asbestos factory in South Africa. Previously I settled a South African case brought by an asbestos mining engineer (Beeslaar v Cape). I have acted for US and Canadian residents who have asbestos claims in England and Wales. With US attorneys, I have recovered substantial US damages for UK clients in addition to their UK compensation and I have investigated a number of asbestos talc mesothelioma cases.
Recently I represented a Romanian family following the father’s death on a construction site in London, I have recovered damages following an accident in Antarctica (Langton v Raytheon). At an inquest I represented the family following the unexplained death of a close protection officer within the confines of the British Embassy in Kabul.
Sources describe me as “very experienced and very knowledgeable with fantastic attention to detail,” adding: “He doesn’t shy away from the difficult cases.” Legal 500 describe me as an “‘exceptional lawyer'” with “excellent client-handling skills”. Chambers says I am “Professional and patient and very tenacious, he has great attention to detail”. “Very committed to his clients – brave and willing to take on difficult cases” and I am “a very experienced, intellectual lawyer who is very thorough and knows the market inside out.”
Memberships
I am an APIL Fellow and Assessor and have written and edited the annual Butterworths Personal Injury Damages Statistics handbook.
