Netherlands > Banking and finance: asset finance and structured finance

Stibbe advises banks and industry clients on the securitisation of both commercial and residential mortgage portfolios, consumer credit and auto loans, additionally assisting with the structuring of finance products linked to a range of asset classes, including ships and aircraft. Heading the practice is the trio of structured finance specialist Marieke Driessen, Maarten de Bruin, who focuses on real estate finance and related tax matters, and London-based Rein van Helden, who combines knowledge of securitisation transactions with property and acquisition finance.

Netherlands > Banking and finance: Borrower side

Acquisition and real estate financing form the key pillars of Stibbe‘s borrower-side practice, which also handles corporate and project financing arrangements, and the restructuring of term loans and RCFs. Maarten de Bruin  takes the lead on the firm’s real estate borrowing mandates, and both he and Marieke Driessen offer considerable experience in handling debt finance arrangements. They head the practice alongside London-based Rein van Helden, who advises clients on the closing of cross-border credit lines, and also supports them regarding debt restructuring issues. Niek Groenendijk assists corporate clients looking to access both asset-backed loans or debt facilities.

Netherlands > Banking and finance: lender or arranger side

Banks and alternative credit providers form the core client base of Stibbe‘s lender-side practice, which advises on a mixture of corporate, acquisition and project and development finance, and with noted expertise in complex restructuring of non-performing loans. Marieke Driessen is often tasked with the establishment of a variety of credit facilities, including project and structured finance. She heads the group alongside London-based Rein van Helden, an experienced advisor on cross-border syndicated facilities, and Maarten de Bruin, who finds his niche in the real estate lending arena.

Netherlands > Capital markets: debt

Advising on various aspects of medium term note programmes, on the recapitalisation and restructuring of company clients, and on the issuance of multi-million euro notes issuances, frequently in cross-jurisdictional contexts, are all elements of work which feature in Stibbe‘s workload. The group is co-led by Marieke Driessen who harnesses a debt finance and regulatory specialism, London-based Rein van Helden and tax expert Maarten de Bruin.
