Career

After reading law at the University of Bristol, Nick joined the Indirect Taxes Team at Deloitte UK where he later became an Indirect Tax Assistant Manager providing VAT advisory and compliance services to its clients.

Nick joined ISOLAS LLP in September 2017 and was initially part of our Distributed Ledger Technology (“DLT”)/Fintech and Financial Services team. Nick advised on several major projects relating to the sale of tokenised digital assets involving the use of DLT to raise finance, typically for early-stage start-ups, as well as the applicability of the DLT framework that was introduced in Gibraltar on 1 January 2018, to these arrangements.

Nick now works closely alongside Mark Isola KC who specialises in employment, civil litigation, landlord and tenant, property, and general insurance matters.

As part of our litigation practice, Nick has assisted as junior counsel in several cases brought against major employers and businesses of Gibraltar, both at the Employment Tribunal and in the Supreme Court of Gibraltar, including claims for bullying and unfair dismissal.

Nick regularly advises both employers and employees on a wide range of statutory and/or contractual claims including but not limited to redundancies, collective redundancies, unfair dismissals, bullying, discrimination and personal injury.

Nick has drafted and reviewed policies of employers to ensure that these are compliant with the current legislation, in particular with respect to bullying, and has presented several training sessions to ensure their effective and practical implementation and monitoring.

Nick is also part of our transactional team in advising businesses involved in the gaming, banking, property and insurance sectors on transactions with advice and assistance on property, employment, and commercial law.
