The Legal 500 Brazil Awards 2024

Latin America’s largest legal market has undergone a series of changes over the past few years. A hotly contested election, which saw the return of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to the presidency, and the global slowdown in transactional activity recently took a toll on the Brazilian economy, which managed to bounce back with a vengeance. A new fiscal framework, a shift in foreign policy, an ambitious green transition plan – where renewable energy and ESG-driven commercial opportunities take centre stage – and a historic tax reform have seen confidence return to the Brazilian market. Brazil’s law firms have thrived, including growing interest from international players, and the rise of quality boutique offerings.

The Legal 500 is delighted to recognise the leading legal players from both private practice and the in-house sector who have contributed to the Brazilian and global market. These awards are determined based on The Legal 500’s market-leading independent research for the annual directory. Winners are selected by a judging team spearheaded by The Legal 500 Brazil editor Daniela Costa, Latin America editor Tim Girven, and head of in-house research Joe Boswell, along with a large group of in-house and freelance researchers who have in-depth knowledge of their practice areas; this is the same team that is responsible for the annual production of the authoritative The Legal 500 Latin America guide. Some practice areas have stand-alone awards and others are thematic groupings of directory practice areas.
