Watson Farley & Williams LLP is particularly active in sustainability matters across the transport and shipping industries, in renewable energy and in sustainable finance.

In Singapore, the firm acted for SUSI in the establishment of a $15m joint venture with Entoria for the development of rooftop PV infrastructure in Southeast Asia, and is advising Entobel on the $30m financing of a insect protein production business. The Singapore team further acted for Credit Agricole on the first ever sustainability-linked $116m JOLCO (Japanese Operating Lease with Call Option), and advised ING Bank on a US$40m BW LPG sustainability-linked loan upsizing in BW Group’s ongoing push towards sustainability of its fleet operations.

In addition to the firm’s wider involvement in the decarbonisation of the shipping industry, it is assisting the Vessel Technology Assessment System (VTAS) project which promotes fuel efficiency in the maritime sector.

A member of the Legal Sustainability Alliance, the firm has a global environmental charter to set and implement internal de-carbonisation targets. Its sustainability practices received a silver EcoVadis rating in 2021. Many of the firms’ offices, including the Singapore office, have attained a sustainability certification.
