Multi-service Greek law firm POTAMITISVEKRIS’ sustainability-linked activities broadly revolve around its work in sustainable finance, innovative renewable energy projects and green procurement, as well as various internal initiatives to reduce the firm’s own environmental impact. Managing partner Stathis Potamitis recently advised a range of banks, including Eurobank, on the public offering of €300m senior sustainability-linked bonds listed on ATHEX issued by GEK TERNA, while co-managing partner George Bersis is assisting Sani/Ikos Group with a group refinancing of over €500m to incentivise the achievement of ESG sustainability targets. The firm has acted for a multitude of banks and other financial institutions and investors in the financing, refinancing, development, construction, purchase and acquisition of wind and solar projects, including advising National Bank of Greece on the financing and construction of wind farms with a combined capacity of 408MW, and both National Bank of Greece and Piraeus Bank on the financing of 18 wind projects in Evia island totalling 330MW. In the public procurement space, a recent client was MOTOR OIL RENEWABLE ENERGY on three public tenders for waste management contracts totalling €500m. Part of the firm’s commitment to causes such as environmental protection is its pro bono legal representation, including for the Hellenic Society for the Environment and Cultural Heritage. Since moving to a new office building, the firm has implemented renovations towards increased sustainability, improved its energy efficiency and reduced its energy consumption.
