Position

Niazi undertakes high-value and complex personal injury (EL/PL) and clinical negligence matters, including group litigation. He has an accompanying specialism in employment law, and is sought after in cases calling for expertise in both employer’s liability and employment litigation.

His current and recent caseload features high profile, multi-million pound industrial disease, physical/sexual abuse, and discrimination, bullying and harassment claims.

A highly experienced inquests and inquiries advocate, he is head of the 2TG Inquests and Inquiries group, and is presently acting for two core participants in the UK Covid-19 Inquiry.

Across his practice, he is regularly instructed in claims involving points of wide importance and/or at the frontier of a particular area of law. A substantial proportion of his work has a cross-border element.

Recent major cases include the Huntercombe Hospitals group litigation (2023, ongoing), a test case on Employment Tribunals��� jurisdiction in disability discrimination claims by HIV sufferers, Sivaji v MoD [2021] EWCA Civ 1163, in which the Court of Appeal clarified the ‘show cause’ jurisdiction in mesothelioma claims, and the Kenyan Emergency Group Litigation (2018), the largest group action ever to have been brought against the UK government.
