He has focused his practice in the banking area, capital markets and corporate conflicts. He has participated in the domestic market in the structuring of several issues of negotiable obligations, shares and financial trusts with public offering. Advisor in several private placements in the international market. He also represents on a recurring basis multilateral organizations, pension funds, consumer credit companies, financial trusts and entities regulated by the Central Bank of Uruguay.

He has been involved in international arbitrations as counsel, representing the State in banking disputes and as an expert witness in banking and corporate law in New York-based arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce. Since 2017, he has been an external consultant for UNOPS in Project Finance. Before founding BRAGARD, he served as founding partner of Sanguinetti Foderé Bragard Abogados and was previously a partner of Estudio Olivera & Delpiazzo Abogados. He has been recognized by international publications such as “Chambers and Partners”, “International Financial Law Review”, “Leaders League”, “Legal 500” and “Latin Lawyer” as a leading lawyer in Uruguay in financial and capital markets matters.

Bragard Abogados provides corporate advice on a regular basis to a growing roster of national, international and multinational clients. Commercial companies constitute a significant part of the firm’s clientele, and it handles formations, dissolutions and acquisitions. The team’s prowess in due diligence makes it well equipped to advise on corporate planning, as well as M&A and reorganisations. The practice is adept at drafting shareholder and participation agreements and structuring administration, financial, guarantee and investment trusts. Agustina Bomio heads the team, focusing her corporate practice on advice to global companies establishing operations in Uruguay. Managing partner Jean Jacques Bragard plays a lead role on many of the team’s key matters, bringing to the group a strong background in corporate disputes. Senior associate Alberto Frigerio is an active member of the practice, who excels in the drafting of contracts, as well as advising on public procurement. Associate Guillermo Lorbeer left the firm in June 2023.

Uruguay > Tax

Bragard Abogados provides day-to-day tax advice to clients across a range of industries, including the technology, media and energy sectors. The team also participates in tax due diligence processes, as well as advising clients on fiscal strategy. Jean Jacques Bragard heads the team, alongside Agustina Bomio, who strengthens the practice’s global capabilities, bringing in-depth expertise in international tax. Cynthia Carballo is also an active member of the team.

Specialising in the banking, finance and capital markets fields, Bragard Abogados advises an impressive clientele that includes brokers, stock exchanges, funds and trusts, and fintech companies. The team also has experience representing clients in arbitration related to banking law matters. Jean Jacques Bragard leads the team and is adept at designing financing and asset management structures and advising on public securities offerings. Agustina Bomio focuses her practice on the capital markets and fintech areas. The group also fields a strong team of senior associates: Daniela Stryk advises a diverse roster of clients, including intermediaries, investment advisors, portfolio managers and investment fund administrators; Alfredo Frigerio takes a lead role on some of the team’s key matters; and Valentina Olazábal is an active member of the group.
