Hernández & Cía’s mining team provides comprehensive advice to a range of both national and international companies in the mining industry, handling matters that range from exploration and extraction issues to project development and financing, permitting and regulatory compliance. Recognised for his significant expertise in the development of mining projects, Luis Felipe Huertas Del Pino jointly leads the team together in conjunction with mining, environmental and arbitration expert Luis Rodríguez-Mariátegui; and Miyanou Dufour, whose broad practice spans regulatory matters, the negotiation of corporate and financing contracts and mining project development. The senior team was further strengthened in January 2024 with the promotion of Juan Pablo Macassi to the partnership; he is an additional key contact for matters related to exploration and exploitation. Also promoted at the start of the year, counsel Lorena Tanji focuses on mining and environmental regulation; while senior associate Joseline Pérez‘s practice centres on regulatory matters and occupational health-and-safety in the mining sector.

With experience and clients across the oil and gas, electricity, food and drink, and real estate sectors, it is nevertheless in the mining sector where Hernández & Cía‘s environmental practice plays to its full strength. The practice is co-led by Luis Felipe Huertas Del Pino and Miyanou Dufour, with the former specialising in environmental compliance and regulatory advice as well as the development of mining projects, and the latter responsible for handling the corporate, M&A and financial aspects of mining transactions. Promoted to the partnership in January 2024, Juan Pablo Macassi is known for his in-depth knowledge of the mining industry, and accordingly assists clients with regulatory matters connected to exploitation and exploration projects. Lorena Tanji, who is similarly focused on environmental matters in relation to the extractive sector was concurrently promoted to counsel.
