Position
Aisha joined our Firm in 2010 starting as a law student, and has been an associate since 2014. She works in the Energy practice area, with a focus on renewable energies and environmental matters.
She has participated in multiple energy projects, from their development and construction to their financing and operation, and has extensive experience in matters related to governmental authorizations, construction, supply and operation contracts, and power purchase agreements.
She has in-depth experience in all aspects of renewable energy projects, advising firms in their day-to-day operations and in their participation in the Electricity Market, as well as in the framework of M&A, securities and financing transactions.
Career
Aisha has a Law Degree from the Universidad Panamericana, with a specialization in Administrative Law from the same University. She holds an MSc in Environmental Protection and Management from the University of Edinburgh, where she graduated with merit.

Its recent activity has included farmout agreements in the hydrocarbons sector, and assisting with the development of a green hydrogen project in the state of Oaxaca. Practice co-head Horacio de Uriarte draws on extensive experience across the range of Mexico’s energy and infrastructure projects, handling both legal and regulatory aspects. His fellow co-lead, Patricio Trad, is a corporate finance all-rounder. The practice at Mijares, Angoitia, Cortés y Fuentes S.C. specialises in a range of mandates, including environmental due diligence for M&A transactions, administrative and criminal environmental litigation, carrying out environmental risk evaluations, and advising on remediation processes. Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations concerning water use, wastewater discharges, air pollution emissions, and environmental impact reports are all additional facets of the practice. Leadership of the practice group is shared between counsel Gabriel Calvillo and senior associate Paula Pérez. Calvillo brings previous experience as head of Environmental Crimes Division of the Federal Department of Justice to the table and focuses on representing corporations in litigation, as well assisting with environmental due diligence. Pérez, for her part, takes care of environmental impact assessments, hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, soil pollution and urban development matters. Associates Paulina Martínez (administrative litigation and environmental compliance) and Aisha Calderón (renewable energies and environmental law) are additional names to note.
Mexico > Projects and infrastructure
‘Knowledge, speed, quality in deliverables, and practicality’ are the calling cards of the group at Mijares, Angoitia, Cortés y Fuentes S.C., which specialises in advising financial institutions and multinationals on the financing of infrastructure projects – primarily renewables, oil-and-gas, water treatment, waste management, ports, highways and railroads. A recent highlight saw the group assist Aleatica and Invex Infraestructura with the negotiation and execution of a structured financing by means of a loan agreement for up to MXN $4.8bn in order to refinance its debt. A trio of partners shares leadership of the practice: Horacio De Uriarte focused on advising both lenders and borrowers in relation to project finance mandates, as well as on the regulatory aspects of energy and infrastructure projects – notably those involving natural gas pipelines, LNG terminals and toll road projects. Patricio Trad majors on M&A, corporate and structured finance, securities regulation, and infrastructure and energy matters; and Eugenio Macouzet handles corporate matters, debt and equity offerings, real estate, and projects work. Senior associate Anacandy Perusquía‘s practice is centred on private equity transactions, M&A, and corporate and project finance; associate Aisha Calderón has a growing role in renewable energy and environmental matters.
