Career

Rick is a Senior Partner in BLG’s Construction Group and he is widely considered one of Canada’s leading infrastructure, surety and construction lawyers. Rick brings practical legal and industry-specific expertise to each client engagement.

Rick is recognized for his unrivalled P3 experience in the healthcare sector, having been extensively involved in healthcare infrastructure projects across Ontario.

He specializes in construction, surety and procurement law including: construction contracts and project delivery methods, public infrastructure procurement and contracts, construction insurance and surety bonds.

Rick has been actively involved in a large number of construction and infrastructure projects – successfully leading transaction teams and closing a number of public-private partnership deals, as well as crafting complex project agreements.

Rick also has extensive experience in domestic and international dispute resolution having resolved countless project disputes including appearances at every level of court including the Supreme Court of Canada.

Rick is recognized by the foremost legal rankings publications including Chambers Canada for Construction (Band 1) and Who’s Who Legal: Government Contracts and Construction.

He is a co-chair of the Osgoode Hall Certificate Program in P3 and a former member of the Finance Committee of the Canadian Construction Association.
