Howard Steel is a partner in Goodwin’s Financial Restructuring practice.

Howard represents debtors, sponsors, purchasers of distressed assets, creditors’ committees, bondholders, lenders, indenture trustees, landlords, and individual secured and unsecured creditors in all aspects of corporate restructuring. He has extensive experience in mass tort cases, SIPA proceedings, distressed M&A, distressed debt trading, financing and intercreditor issues, out-of-court and in-court restructurings, creditors’ rights, fiduciary duties and governance, insolvency related litigation and liquidations and wind-downs.

Goodwin has significantly expanded its financial restructuring team in recent times, building on its considerable experience in out-of-court restructurings and formal bankruptcies. The firm has worked on a series of Chapter 11 cases and other out-of-court restructurings for a number of debtors, creditors and other stakeholders. It has a significant presence in insolvency-related litigation, including fraudulent transfer litigation, lender liability claims and mass tort bankruptcy cases. Michael Goldstein is chair of the financial restructuring group and has more than 35 years’ experience in the field.
