Fielding one of the largest teams in Brazil dedicated to tax matters, Mattos Filho offers advisory and contentious services to a multitude of well-established domestic clients and major multinationals operating in a diversity of sectors, from financial services to agribusiness. The firm boasts the ability to advise on the full spectrum of tax mandates, including customs, transfer pricing, direct and indirect tax, judicial and administrative litigation, as well as tax planning and audits. Administrative tax proceedings are core areas of activity for the highly regarded Roberto Quiroga Mosquera and Ana Paula Lui, who excels in cases before CARF. Andrea Bazzo is noted for her expertise in corporate taxation and the tax aspects of M&A, capital markets and debt transactions. Other key individuals include: Renata Correia Cubas, an indirect tax specialist who focuses on strategic litigation; Luiz Felipe Centeno Ferraz, who brings together expertise in accounting and tax to advise on public and private M&A; Marcel Alcades, who concentrates on customs, foreign trade and indirect tax; Brasília-based Ariane Costa Guimaraes, who handles matters before the superior courts in the federal capital; and Paulo Camargo Tedesco, another name to note for judicial disputes related to federal, state, municipal and social security taxes.
