Janice is an associate advocate in the Corporate & Commercial department, specialising in corporate, commercial and trust law. She has over 20 years of experience as an advocate, during which she has worked both in private practice and in-house with regulated international financial institutions.
Janice has particular experience in providing opinions on Isle of Man companies, advising on internal management governance, regulatory issues, trust disputes and variation of trusts. Janice has acted as a members’ liquidator and advised and challenged liquidators and receivers, as well as advising on distressed property portfolios, where necessary dealing with HMRC and other tax authorities. She enjoys drafting documentation and has a wealth of experience dealing with sale and purchase agreements, joint ventures, partnerships and trust deeds and ancillary documentation.
Janice drafts and negotiates commercial leases, releases and ancillary documents as well as dealing with disputes relating to interests in real estate including planning, leasehold disputes and title defect rectification.
Janice advises on employment law issues, including the effectiveness of restrictive covenant provisions relating to ex-employees and employees claiming constructive dismissal.
