A Senior Partner at J E Bennett Law, Richard is a highly experienced Court of Protection lawyer and recognised in the 2025 Legal 500 ratings as a Next Generation Partner and a Recommended Lawyer.

Richard’s combines his Court of Protection work with leading JE Bennett Law’s Private Client team dealing with Probate/Estate adminsitration, Lasting Powers of Attorney and wills. Richard’s wide legal experience and previous background in the care sector gives him a unique empathy in relation to the issues and challenges facing many of his clients.

Richard acts as a financial deputy and professional trustee for a significant number of clients in vulnerable circumstances, as well as advising lay deputies and trustees.

Richard has specialised in Private Client work since 2007, and in supporting clients in vulnerable circumstances since 2011. Before joining J E Bennett Law, he was a partner at two Sussex law firms, where he gained extensive experience in handling financial and care/welfare matters under the Court of Protection.

Prior to training as a lawyer, Richard worked with clients with learning disabilities, acquired brain injury and psychiatric illnesses.

Richard joined J E Bennett Law in 2018, being promoted to Senior Partner in 2021.
