Career

Paul qualified as a solicitor in 1994 and has specialised in commercial litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms such as mediation since that time. Paul qualified in Manchester and returned to the city to Pannone & Partners in 2004 having spent time at national firms Osborne Clarke and Pinsent Masons.

Paul has experience in assisting clients across various sectors including retail (including on-line/e-commerce), manufacturing, leisure & hospitality, recruitment, technology, partnerships / LLPs and creative industries amongst others.

Paul has 30 years’ experience advising clients on a range of commercial disputes. Paul’s work includes advising on contractual disputes (often involving an overseas party), disputes arising from the sale or purchase of a business, shareholder disputes and “boardroom bust-ups”, professional negligence claims, restrictive covenant and breaches of confidence claims, defamation and malicious falsehood disputes and all forms of injunctive relief.

Education

Paul obtained a post graduate diploma in intellectual property law from Nottingham Law School in 2009. In 2011 Paul was appointed a Deputy District Judge on the Northern Circuit. In 2019 Paul qualified as a commercial mediator.     

Personal

Paul has been involved in a number of reported cases during his career, some of which remain leading authorities on particular issues. However, a personal highlight is being part of the group of partners that acquired the commercial practice from Pannone LLP to form Pannone Corporate LLP in 2014.
