Nick specialises in commercial development and transactional planning law. Nick’s advice spans the length of the development process from the drafting and negotiating of planning agreements to enable the grant of planning permission, to the acquisition of land for development (whether on a conditional or unconditional basis) and the disposal of land for its subsequent development. Nick’s dual specialisms of planning and property development allow him to take a holistic approach to advising his clients through all of these stages of the planning and development process.

Nick forms part of our Natural Resources team and deals with the drafting and negotiation of minerals leases, landfill agreements and quarrying agreements.

Nick’s clients include large portfolio landowners and Nick assists these clients with the day to day legal landlord and tenant management of such portfolios as well as the acquisition of new investment properties.

Some of Nick’s recent experience to date includes the following:

  • The drafting and negotiation of a series of strategic options and promotion agreements for a large regional promoter of land for residential development;
  • Acting on numerous s.106 planning agreements for a PLC Housebuilder, frequently involving schemes of over 500 homes and issues of affordable housing, viability and the Community Infrastructure Levy;
  • The multi million pound acquisition of an office building for investment purposes and acting on the subsequent lettings and ancillary legal management issues in respect of the building.
