Position

Neeraj Tuli is the senior partner of Tuli & Co. Before setting up Tuli & Co in 2000, Neeraj was a partner with insurance law specialist firm Kennedys in London.

He is widely recognised for his depth of knowledge and understanding of the contentious and non-contentious aspects of the insurance and reinsurance industry. He is recognised as a leading lawyer by prominent legal directories in the insurance space. He is named in the prestigious Hall of Fame by The Legal 500 for 2021, and is also consistently featured as Band 1 practitioner for insurance by Chambers Asia-Pacific as well as in the ‘A-List: India’s Top 100 Lawyers’ by the India Business Law Journal.

His practice is recommended in various editions of the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners legal directories with market sources describing him as having “remarkable knowledge” (Legal 500), “a name to be reckoned with and an authority” and “one of the leading minds in the space of insurance law” (Chambers and Partners Asia-Pacific).

Neeraj regularly assists clients with regulatory advice, product development and insurance coverage issues. His coverage advice for insurers and reinsurers encompasses a wide range of policy lines, including D&O, E&O/professional indemnity, cyber, CGL, product liability, public liability, trade credit, MD, BI, CPM, DSU, ALOP, EAR and CAR.

Neeraj and his team also specialise in litigation and arbitration. They handle ad hoc arbitrations as well as institutional arbitrations, including those conducted under the auspices of the London Court of International Arbitration, the International Chamber of Commerce, the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, Dubai International Arbitration Centre and the Indian Council of Arbitration. Neeraj is currently managing claims on behalf of insurers and reinsurers in India, the US, the UK, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

He also acts as an arbitrator and was invited to be the first president of the Insurance Law Association of India, which was formed in connection with the British Insurance Law Association. He is also a member of the Confederation of Indian Industry’s National Committee on Dispute Resolution and a former chairman and current committee member of the Indian Associated Chambers of Commerce Expert Insurance Committee.

Career

Neeraj Tuli joined insurance law specialist Kennedys in London in 1988, and became a partner in the Lloyds office in 1996 before returning to India in 2000 to set up Tuli & Co.
